Can anyone give me any help on the following query:
A baby, name unknown, is born May 1925 and 6 months later it is adopted and (apparently) given the name of its adoptive parents including new forenames.
Considering the year, would a birth certificate have been issued for the (illegitimate) baby with the mother's name, assuming father not known, or would there have been no certificate issued untill adopted? If this latter would the baby's (mother's) name have been mentioned?
The problem is that no birth certificate with the child's adoptive name can be found. This person died some 15 years ago.
Anyone any ideas, advice or whatever
My thanks
Dave
