While looking for something else, my eye was caught by an entry in the "occupation" column on the 1861 census. The occupation was: "5 men."
Scrolling over, I found that it lined up with a wife, age 34. I noticed that her husband was 53, but still . . . !
I reckon it had to do with her husband's occupation, on the line above, which turned out to be: "Blacksmith employing." |laugh1| Oh well. For a minute there I was dreaming up some pretty interesting scenarios.
Imagine if the entry for the wife were transcribed in full, on its own. <g>
