Hello Everyone,

I would appreciate any help as I have been struggling with this family for a while.

I have recently received a Baptism Record 3rd Aug 1851 from Llanstffraid Glyn Ceiriog, Parish of 3 illegitimate children as follows:
Jane Evans born abt. 1844
Martha Evans born abt. 1846
John Evans born abt. 1849
Parents:Edward Hughes a Tailor and Gwen Evans
Abode:Gilfach

I have Gwens parents on the 1841 Census at HO107/1401/11 pg8
I have Gwen, her children and parents on the 1851 Census at HO107/2509/609 pg10 Gilfach
(Gwens parents are named Lloyd)

I cannot find Gwen, Edward and family on the 1861 census or later.

I do not have any birth records yet.

Have you worked out why her parents name is Lloyd and her name was Evans? Was she born before parent's married?

You need to check if she had married in between the censuses, she might have married someone else. Try BMD indexes for marriages and deaths.

Hello Neil,
Yes, I have checked all the records I have access to without success, before I posted. I have not been able to form an opinion as to why she is listed as Gwen Evans.

Hello Lizzy9,

Thank you so much for the information, I am very grateful. I saw that marriage but I didn't look outside the box! I should have thought that it could have been a 2nd marriage, or otherwise. It does look promising..................

Best Wishes
Joanne
