My 5xgt Grandfather was Charles Atkinson a farmer of Weeton, Huby and Castley (parishes of Harewood and Leathley). He and his wife Susannah (nee Cullingworth of Pannal) led a Methodist class from their farm in Huby in the late C18/early C19. They may have personally known John Wesley who regularly preached from Arnecliffe Crags. Charles was the first named trustee of the Weeton Methodist Chapel founded in 1796. I'm descended from his eldest son John who went to Otley and then Wakefield. His second son Isaac was a prominent local preacher and farmed at Castley. One of Isaac's son's was the Otley solicitor Charles J.F. Atkinson. Popular first names were William, John, Charles, Abraham, Isaac, Ann, Susannah. The Pulleyn family were also connected. If anyone knows of this Atkinson family I'd like to hear from them.
