I am looking for information on George French (b1826 in North Bovey) who married Avis Hamlyn from Lidford. In the 1851 Census they are listed at the same address in Widecombe in the Moor (both unmarried, as servants) and their first child Susana was born c1852. I cant find any record of their marriage (eg on freeBMD) and I cant easily make it to look at the records offices because I live in Switzerland. I have the birth certificate of one son Richard and Avis is listed as Avis French formerly Hamlyn, so I assume they WERE married. If anyone could help or give me any advice on how to get this certificate, that would be great.
