Hi,

Thanks for all the help. Really appreciate it.
I wonder if the Sarah MOORE on 1861 census is James' mother? Is there any more info on there you could give me?

Really appreciated
Thanks
Amanda

AmandaAmanda, that's the way the enumerator notes the relationship -- James as a son of Sarah:

Name / Estimated Birth Year / Birthplace / Relationship / Occupation
Sarah Moore 1826 [age 35] Scotland Head [Widow] House Keeper
James Moore 1851 [age 10] Lpool Son Scholar
William M Moore 1859 [age 2] Lpool Son Scolar
Andrew Marshall 1835 [age 26] Hull Pottens Boarder [Unmarried] Joiner

Above all the same reference as previously given you by uksearch.

Trish

I am looking for the death records for james senior( Sarah's husband).
He is showing with family on 1851 census born 1817 Isle of Man.
I am having problems locating his birth records and thought i would try his death records.
I have checked freebmd and also lancsbmd with no luck there i'm afraid.
Can anybody help with this?
Much appreciated
Amanda

The Civil Registration Index shows 4 possible entries for the death of your James MOORE in Liverpool if he died some time between 1858 [just before son William was born] and 1861. As it happens, all occured in 1859.

These findings are based on the assumption that the family was living in Liverpool at the time of his death. Were they at the same address in 1851 as in 1861 and 1871?

Also, it may help to keep in mind that census information was often either wrongly reported or wrongly recorded [or both] so there's always the possibility, however remote, that he was alive in 1861 but not living with his wife and family and that Sarah -- for any one of a number of reasons -- gave her marital status as widow.

Requesting a lookup in the 1871 census for a George Ahearn. Born Liverpool 1864, parents possibily Danial & Mary Ahearn both born Ireland. Older siblings to George were Mary age approx 10 and John age approx 8, both born Ireland.

In the census Ahearn may be spelled as: Ahearn, Ahearne, Ahern, Aherne.

Thank you.

Colman Ahern.

Hello:

New to the Board and thought I would offer to do your look-up. I did a search of the 1871 and 1881 census for George Ahearn (using soundex) living in Lancashire. I couldn't find a reference. Interestingly there is a Mary C Ahearn and a Mary E. Ahern both born in about 1864 living in Liverpool (and West Derby). Not sure if either of these is your Mary.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
