Does anyone know if the Norwich Record Office holds many documents for schools in Norwich? I would like to find out more about a pupil teacher in a school there in the last years of the 19th century. I do not know the school, however, but she never married so may have taught for some time.
Many thanks if you can help.:)

Best way to check what the NRO holds is to try their website

http://www.norfolk.gov.uk/leisure/archives//nroindex.htm

scroll down to 'Sumaries of Collections' and select 'Guide to holdings'

Click on 'Local Authority Records' and then 'Norwich City Council' and finally the link for records post 1835

You should then find something under 'Education'

Alternatively, under the 'Summary of Colections' you'll see a link marked 'NROCAT' which is quite a good catalogue, you might try searching under 'Education Norwich' and at the bottom of the page, under options make sure both the 'and' boxes are checked.
