518 Bury Road, Rochdale in 1918

Can anyone please tell me what was at the above location in 1918 - was it an hospital? (Searching on google its now a physiotherapy clinic)

I'm currently researching an ancestor who died there on 19 July 1918 having been invalided home from the war (Eqypt). I'm just wondering why he was there as all his family were from / lived in Middlesex - unless its where he was sent to be treated on his return.
