L have recently obtained a marriage certificate for my great, great grandfather Robert Brown Campbell b. Liverpool approx 1835, death recorded Neston, Wirral 1909. Can't find any record of his birth in Liverpool, nor any record of his father John Campbell who on Roberts marriage certificate is referred to as a Co........... Traveller, cannot read the first word, most frustrating!!!!!! I don't think it is Commercial.
No record of mother either. We do know that Robert Brown moved to Neston and lived out his life here, he was a journeyman joiner, he married Sarah Brownsworth in 1860. |banghead|

Is there any chance that you could scan just that part of the certificate and post it on the forum so that others may take a peek? The best way to do this is by using a site like Photobucket. Follow Mary's instructions in post #1 here to see how to do it: http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/showthread.php?30819-How-to-use-Photobucket

Would it be likely for a marriage and birth to be in the same year in the 1800's ? Looking at the birth date.

Hi Can I just say that I had not heard of this web site until a friend mentioned electoral rolls, I have always relied on Census. The response I have had from particularly Josie7644 has been fantastic. Realizing my g.g.grandfather was probably from Scotland have spent most of today researching there. To my surprise I think I have found his marriage and the family mystery as to where the middle name of Brown has come from in later generations. Still can't find a birth for Robert Brown Campbell either in Scotland or Liverpool. The family does not show up in the 1841 census in either place or though there are possible mother/son or father/son in Liverpool but without birth date of R.B am struggling.
Marriage I have found John Campbell-Elizabeth Brown 20/5/1832, Glasgow, Lanarkshire. Is there a way of finding out if they moved to Liverpool and when? Thank you once again Josie and Daft Bat xxx
