I'm just putting the finishing touches to the ancestry of a nurse friend of mine.
Thomas Notley (Nottley) married to Esther. Found in census's 1841 and 1851.
(Thomas's age in 1851 in A----y is a mis transcription as 62 when in fact its 42).
Thomas in 1841 is in Hampshire, though no suggestions are given in the 1841 census of a birth county.
In 1851 Thomas is shown as being born in Weymouth, which would be about 1808/9.
This puts Thomas in the frame as being the son of John and Susannah Nottley
of Osmington. Born 20th March 1808.
Osmington appears to be the family seat for the Notley's in this part of England.
I cannot find these parents details at this moment.
Johns age / birthday and John and Susannah's marriage in Dorset or what Susannah's maiden name may possibly be.
They must have been married around about the year 1808 and their births towards the latter end of 1700.
Any help will be appreciated.
Cheers
Dave.

I am almost certain that this John Notley/Nottley is the same John Notley in the 1841 and 1851 census, living with his son, John and daughter in law Maria and their children. In the 1851 census John's birth is given as about 1776, aged about 75 and that he is a widower. There is no mention of a Susannah so I can only presume that she died before 1837.
Cheers
Dave.

There are a couple of John Notleys on the IGI, both in Osmington.
John born 1806 to John and Susannah (Presumably Thomas's brother) and John born 1784 to Thomas and Jane. No sign of a marriage for Joh and Susanna though.
