I googled an obscure ancestor of mine by marriage who was in the Victorian Government in the 1870's. I came across one line in an obit (for someone who is not connected to me) who was researching for a book on Ned Kelly. It suggested that there was a connection between my ancestor and Ned.
I narrowed down my google search and found the book written by the now deceased person and apparently my ancestor was the man in charge of organising the capture of the Kelly Gang and presided over the siege at Glenrowan from his office in Melbourne!!!
He is related to me by way of a few marriages and a number of generations, but he is still on my tree so I am claiming him!!! :D
As Ned would say 'Such is life...'
I am off now to go and order the book
