I believe that children from the London boroughs were sent here? I also believe that my g.grandfather, SAMUEL CUMMINGS who would have been 11 years old in 1901 & was born in HOXTON, London /(Middlesex?) is registered as being resident here in 1901 cencus.........can anyone please shed any light on this for me & explain what the place was for? was it a type of reform school for 'naughty' (poor?) boys? I have printed out the info. I can find on the net but its from an 1869 article & VERY tiny writing! Any help at all would be gratefully recieved - thank you!
