Neston (South Wirral, Cheshire) Coalfield and Colliers
I am researching, for publication, the history of the Neston Coalfield (circa 1760 to March 1927) and am constructing a database of all those who are recorded as being employed in the mines. If you have had, or think you may have had, ancestors who were employed at any time in the Neston mines, or have any photographs or memorabilia associated with these mines, or any information that may be useful, I would very much like to hear from you.
If you are researching your own family history and believe you may have ancestors connected with mining in Neston, I may be able to help – I have, for example, extracted all records of colliers from the Registers of Neston Parish Church and can search this database easily.
