I have past direct relatives 1770 to 1840s who were cordwainers or shoemakes and I wondered if there were any lists of info, like the yorkshire threads. Their surnames were Gregory and Wallace

Hello Brian - welcome to Brit-Gen,

What sort of information is it that you are looking for?

Directories of the time may help to locate your ancestors - or is it detail of the occupation that you are after?

I have only picked up that they were cordwainers or shoemakers from old parish records at the time of their childrens birth, so any additional info woud be welcome, parents names, addresses, employer etc

Apprenticeship records may be of interest to you. See this research guide (http://http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=295).

Some at least can be bought on CD.

Also try trade directories many of which are also available on CD.
