George MILNE was the publican at The Chequers Public House in the 1850's. Does anyone have any interest in the man or the pub? His wife was Charlotte KNIGHT from Layston, Herts. George was born in Finchley, Mdx.

You will find a page on it at the deadpubs site (Google on that "word"), but their list of names from directories and censuses doesn't go back as far as 1850, so they'd doubtless appreciate your information.
