|wave|Struggling to find information about William McMullen born 1850 in Lugaboy, County Armagh, Northern Ireland.
In 1911 census was living with his second wife Mary Ann at 38 Newry Street, Markethill, Co Armagh, occupation retired Army pensioner.
One of his children Martha McMullen born in 1875 in Calcutta, West Bengal, India.
William again shown as retired Army pensioner, witness to his daughter Marthas Marriage on the 23 July 1894 to Joseph McGarity at Mallaghbrack, County Armagh, Northern Ireland.
Looking this up as a favour for somebody |hug|and I know I could get some info from Kew but wondered if anyone had any further information or help.

Re William Mcmullen of Armagh enquiry. As a former Mcmullen I found that records are hard to find in N.Ireland. I have found Emerald Ancestors a great help.

There's a military record for a William MCMULLEN born abt 1848 at Mullabrack (sic), Armagh. Attested to the 37th Foot in 1866.

You could check it out on the subscription site findmypast.

Looks like they are also in the 1901 Irish census.

At no. 4 in Gosford Demesne (Markethill, Armagh)
Mc Mullen William 50 Army Pensioner Sergeant ...
Mc Mullen Mary Ann 48 Wife ....
Mc Mullen William James 18 Son born India ...

Thanks for the information!
I must admit, a bit thin on the ground of solid proven information at the time, I was scrapping all I could find over the Irish Web sites without spending a fortune, came up with a good fit at the time for William, but I think you may have found our solider boy to the 37th Foot in 1866, we were looking for, many thanks. Will take your advice and check on Findmypast.
