Morning List,

I am doing a indebth search on William George Richard CLAY and sometimes known as William MILLETT. He is my husbands grandfather.

His parents lived in India and when his father died in 1883, his mother Annie CLAY married William James MILLETT. WGR CLAY was 3 at the time (born in 1880).

I would like to know if there were schools for British children in India? His deceased father was in the British Army, so this could also be an option that he was in an Army school in India.

However, we were told that William CLAY/MILLETT knew a lot of the Indian language. I found him in the 1891 census living with his PHILLIPS family at the age of 10 and a scholar.

How can I find out what school he attended say between 1886 - 1891?

Secondly, how can I find out WHEN he left India between say 1883 and 1891?

Then lastly, what schools could he have attended in India if he did not complete his schooling in either Marazion or Penzance.

Look forward to all replies.

Thank you and regards,
Glynis
