As more messages are posted on the Norfolk forums, it may become harder to locate specific postings which may be of interest, especially if you are looking for a common surname.

This thread is an index to the surnames posted during the last three months. I previously posted a message covering Oct - Dec 2004 here:
http://www.british - genealogy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3029 (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3029)
The intention is to make it easier for you to locate others with similar interests. To find a message to which the index refers, simply click on 'Search' in the blue toolbar and then select 'Advanced Search'. In 'Key words' enter the surname' and in user name enter the name exactly as shown. This should bring up the message of interest and so allow you to send a private message to the researcher or to reply to the post.

This is an index to all the Norfolk forums

If I've missed a message or made a mistake, please send me a private message and I'll make a correction

Could you please add PYCROFT to your list? Just got info that one of my Covels became a Mrs Pycroft. I'm sure the parsons and enumerators have made quite a mess of that name over the years, not to mention transcriptionists. Already found it changed to Rycroft on one census report.

Still trying to get more on the Norfolk ROOKS/ROOKES where possible. Perhaps I should take myself off to a "Rookery"? (Just kidding) Sometimes I think it would make our research much easier if all our ancestors had names like RUMP, or MUDD, but then I consider what it must have been like for the children - they must have had to put up with so much teasing! Of course girl-children always had the easy option of changing their names for something much nicer, by the simple expedient of marrying someone with a much fancier name!

Bye, have fun!

List amended as requested. When you get time, why not post a message with what you know and see if it rings a bell with anyone?

Just returned from holiday, list amended as requested. When you get a chance, you might post a new thread with details of your research. If you have already, my aplogogies, I'm still catching up.
