Can anyone enlighten me please. In a published version of The Visitation of Somerset 1623, the Raymond family tree shows -
George de com. Glouc.
What does de com. signify?
Will. Raymond of Ilchester superstes 1623 = Maria f. Joh. Querie de com. Som. sergiant at armes to Q. Marie and Q. Eliz. - exactly as spelt.
Superstes? The 'f' must be father, but what was his role? Queen Marie?
There are also
Julia d. and coh. of Wm.,
Margaret d. and h. of John Cole
George f. and h. aet 16, 1623.
Assuming d. is daughter, is h. heir, what is coh? Is is possible that George was a father at age 16 or is it simply a misprint and should be s. and h.?
