Hello Guys and Girls,

I have received the pictures back and I am very very happy. The retouch man has done a fine job. He was a lovely chap so PM me if you want to know more. I recieved two prints plus a cd of images so I can show people online.I've included the originals for you to see as well as the finished versions.

The first lady is my stepmothers actual birth mother (my stepmother being adopted). The second lady is my partners great grandmother.

I think we will get some more photos redone. I love the colour. It really brings people back to life.It seems colour photography was available at the beginning of the century but a don't think it would have been available to the masses.

Kind regards to all who gave me help.Let me know what you think of the pics.

Carl.

Looks like a reasonably good job. However in the first one I suspect that the back of the seat would have been the same colour as the arm and seat. Also the green flowers on the plant look a bit unnatural.

The prints I got look better than the online images. I can see the plant through the back of the chair so I think the guy did it right.

Cheers
Carl.

I think they look good but I am fascinated by the forefinger of the left hand of the lady sitting down. Is she holding something?

They have certainly been well done - but if they had been mine, I would have kept them sepia, there's just something about sepia photographs :)

Best wishes
Ann

I like sepia photos too, but I think the colour versions here make the people seem more real somehow.

I agree. That is why I wanted added colour. The biggest problem was finding someone to do this but I am very pleased with the results. Apparently a lot of people want this doing now and after having some redone I can see why. It really adds a new dimension.

I don't know if she is holding something or it's her finger. The retouch guy told me when he zoomed in on the hands to add the colour, it looked like she had bad scarring all over them. I would love to know more.

I especially like the first one; the added colour is subtle enough to add substance without forcing what might be 'wrong' colours on to the subject. The second one does give her a blue dress and the pedantic 'me' asks "but what if it's pink?"

I wouldn't mind doing this myself with one or two photos, but I'd have to be careful so as not to choose unlikely colours.
