Loftus

For the first time I am involved in searching in Ireland and am completely at a loss.

I am trying to find the birth details of a Patrick Loftus, born c1879 in the tiny village of Scarriff north of Limerick. He came to England and was in Stannington north of Sheffield in 1911.

My knowledge of the geography of Ireland in zilch. Please, can anyone help ?

Hello Eileen,
If you google for the "Irish Family History Foundation" (it is pay per view so I cannot give the link).

You have to register to search. I asked for Patrick Loftus 1876 +/- 4 and ticked the Co. Limerick box.

There was only one, a church baptism in 1873. It costs 5€ to see the full entry.

P.S. I think Scarriff is in Co. Clare so maybe not him.

this is 1879 scarriff co clare , there is one for 1874 also

there is an elderly loftus couple livin in scarriff on 1911 FREE irish census , paps a cooper . on clare library web site there are 3 patrick loftus alive .
