View Full Version : Identifying A Person From a Will
Today I bought a copy of a will of a distant cousin (who died in 1792) from The National Archives.
In it he mentions his cousin, John Phillips, Esquire, from London.
Is there anyway I can identify him? I mean, are there other records associated with the will that would give me more information?

You will probably have to resort to tracing your distant cousin's siblings and their marriages, until you find the correct family name. Could take a while!

That's what I was afraid of. :(
And you must also remember that although he terms this chap 'cousin' he may not even be a blood relative.
Best wishes

I'm guessing that they are, since they both have the same surname.
