found this site the other day when looking for things about barwick and its got Some scans of parish books (bdm's) and historys of places not every book is scaned on the net yet but it might be help full

if you click to read online and then click on the name of the book (PRs) it will take you to Internet Archive where you can download the book to browse or search at your leisure

For years I've been trying to buy a book I bought to read on a return flight from Britain back in 1985. The Book of Heroic Failures. I remember giggling my way through the entire book while other passengers gave me weird looks. I don't know what happened to my copy but they have it at Open Library. I'll be going back to see if I can get it scanned. It's the funniest book I've ever read.

If you search for it at bookfinder.com you'll find lots of copies from a couple of pounds upwards.
