Here is another one for you clever people.
As far as I can decipher it, it looks like Wheelsouglot.

It is on RG/103579; Folio47; Page 2 (Derbys. Smalley)
As usual, I can't seem to do a paste into the text and website not ready yet.

Does anyone recognise it, if so, what is it?

Wheelwright?

Sorry Peter, that one is too obvious ;)

The writing is quite clear - Wheel is straight forward, as is soug but I'm not totally sure about lot

Any other takers?

Peter, did you mean another name for a wheelwright?
I searched the occupations & trades sites but nothing matched.

It certainly looks as if it could be Wheelwright Patrisia. The glot part could be ght.
Its a pity we couldn't see the image. Had a look through other professions, but nothing comes close to what you `see'.

Thanks both, I will go with wheelwright!
As a side issue, any ideas on how to put the image into the text, without using a website?

My reasoning was, unless it's a very clear 'S', that sloppy writing or a poorly preserved page might lead one to interpret the enumerator's 'WHEELWRIGHT' as 'WHEELSOUGLOT'. But if you're not providing the image all we can do is guess.

In lieu of a webpage, have you considered one of the many photo sharing sites around?

Yes please, very much interested! I have only registered so far, until such time as I get everything organised, didn't realise it was already *viewable*.

Certainly not offended, I am on a very steep learning curve here!
