I have a will for Frances Marshall (unfortunately in 2 bits) can anyone tell me the name of her daughter? She names 2 - one is Ann Marshall but I cannot make out the name of the other one. ON page 2 is the name of another executor I think - can anyone see who he is?

I hope this works!

I found the will eventually

Do you mean "I give and beqeauth to my two daughters namely Ann MARSHALL and Frances BRACE all my property............"

The second name looks like Frances Bruce. I'm pretty sure about Frances, not so sure about Bruce. The names recur at the bottom of the first image.

The middle vowel is tricky and I'd accept eitehr interpretation. Sueann, can you find a marriage for MARSHALL to BR(A/U)CE?

Sorry Geoffers - thanks for persisting! It was the Frances Brace/Bruce I couldn't even get close to.

Haven't looked for that bit yet. Will do now I know her name - ish.

Thanks to you as well Vance - I am very grateful.

Sue:)

I'll happily have a look at Frances AND at the executor, if only someone can tell me how to get to the Will on Photobucket |jumphappy

On the bottom line the name looks like John Liaton, at the top it looks slightly different - John L***** of Old North Street, Red Lion Square, London

Thank you very much michaelpipe!

I'd certainly go for Frances BRUCE - the letter 'a' seems almost always to be clearly closed throughout the document.

Interesting that both Ann MARSHALL and Frances BRUCE are described as daughters of the testator and also as spinsters - so
were they half-sisters?

Now, back to look at the other Executor ...

The Executor remains a puzzle. Sorry ...

My immediate reaction was John MATON - but most of the upper case 'M's in the document are much more florid.
John MATON is a name which appears in the IGI around that time.

John LLATON a possible interpretation though ...

Does anyone have a Directory of the time (ca 1832)?
