I am looking for any information relating to a Phelps family in that emigrated to South Africa somewhere around 1876 - 1881 and returning to the UK between 1891 - 1901.

Family are as follows:
Samuel Phelps (born c1838 UK)
Esther Ann Phelps (born 1838 Gloucestershire, UK)
Sons:
Samuel Ernest (born 1874, Gloucestershire, UK)
Arthur John Phelps (born 1876, Gloucestershire, UK)
William H Phelps (born c 1880 Cape Colony)

I have found all back in the UK by 1901census except for the father Samuel Senior

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Looks as if Samuel Senior may have died in South Africa in 1881 - his Death Notice (http://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm30ddf0?200907311821428C6F9294&DN=00000009) is available from the SA National Archives

They were back by 1891, by which time Esther had remarried.
