I am looking for BDM records for Davis's 1800-1850. Apparently they belonged to a non conformist church in the Myddfai/Mothvey area. Would these be kept in Lllandovery or Carmathen or elsewhere? They emigrated to Melbourne, Australia around 1860.

Records for periods before about 1837 are at the National Archives.
See http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/searchthearchives/?source=searcharchives and scroll down to "Non parochial records".
You shouldn't need records for later than 1837. Non-conformists were strong supporters of civil registration.
By law marriages in the 1800-1837 period would have to be in the established church. I assume they weren't Quakers otherwise you would have said.
