Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I have managed to get that as well. I was hoping to perhaps go back further. I was hoping to maybe get confirmation of where in France they came from. I have tried looking for a birth registery for ancestors in France but came up with a bit of a blank. Thanks for the input tho.

Just a few thoughts ...

This could be Andrew in 1901 ...

Name: Andrew Godchaux Age: 31 Birth Year: abt 1870 : Head Spouse's Name: Jenne Gender: Male Where born: France Civil parish: Lambeth Ecclesiastical parish: All Saints London

(1) Have you tried to find Andrew in 1911? That census sometimes includes a town of birth for people born outside the UK. If you're lucky, his place of birth might provide a clue to his mother Leontine's place of origin in France? The 1911 index has a good candidate for Andre GODCHAUX born France c1870, living in Willesden MDX, but you will need to pay for the transcript or image to see if anything more than just France is stated on the schedule.

(2) Do you have the 1913 death certificate for Joseph? Just wondered if the informant might be of interest ...

(3) Did Leontine die in the US? If so, her death/burial record or any obituary might provide a clue to her place of origin. Maybe that's one for the US genealogy buffs among us? ;)

(4) Is there any indication that the family was Jewish? Many GODCHAUX families were. If it's a possibility, you might want to look at some of the JewishGen databases, or at Genami (for France). Google for both :)

Genami.org was brilliant but for the other side of the family and so was familysearch.org. I found out thro another researcher that Leontine was born in Paris 1846 and died there in 1940. I still have to try and obtain her birth, marriage and death certs. But as they all appear to be in Paris, it makes it a bit easier. Thanks for your help
