What type of hat?

I wonder if anyone can please tell me what type of hat? my great grandfather,(Francis Stephens Ley) is wearing, I have seen this fashion before but don't know what it is called, photo taken at Gwinear, Cornwall, in 1874 at the christening of his son Frank Ley,(my grandfather).

HI Finbar, and thanks, you're right by George!! I had a google and they still sell them at cigar stores,(at least on the internet), I was about to add in my post that he looks like he's wearing a smoking jacket, must run in the family.:D
