A close family friend has been asking us about genealogy and has highlighted her problem. Her father, who we knew until he died, was born in Poland and as a Jew the family were sadly Holocaust victims.

She knows the village in Poland that he came from but is unaware of any information sources that would exist either on line, or in the Jewish equivalent of the parish.

Can anyone here advise please

I'd recommend using JRI Poland. She should first explore the website, and then maybe contact them. I can't post a complete link as they are partly commercial, but this should get you there ...

Knowing the village in Poland gives her a good head-start. It doesn't matter if she doesn't know its original name at the relevant date -- JRI Poland are used to that :)

Many thanks indeed, that should get them started if they are serious about it.
