I am looking for any record of the family of Peter FRASER born Petty sometime around 1783-7.
His parents may be James FRASER Farmer and his wife Margaret [M.S. FRASER] {from Peter's death certificate]
Any information whatsoever about this family would be appreciated.
In fact any info re any Peter FRASER born about then would be a bonus.

Peter married a Catherine Fraser c 1826 and had children in Braelingwell Cromarty and The Colony Udale [Udall] He was a malster/brewer.

He could have been married previously.

I have been able to find one Peter FRASER b Petty Inverness at THE Colony Uldale [Udall] in both 1841 and 1851.
I have a death for a Peter FRASER in 1864 who seems to fit his profile but I am completely unable to find Peter in 1861.

He would be a widower and it is possible that he is with his daughter Elizabeth b c 1844 may be with him ..she was the informant on what I think is his death certificate. The place of death is simply Cromarty.

Are there any missing records for 1861 for the area?

Any help appreciated.

Peter's father should have read "John Fraser" in my previous post.

Apologies for posting to 2 different forums, I thought that was the correct way to go about it.
Thank you all for your input.

I don't think the Peter Fraser born to Charles and Ann is my chap..may well be a cousin. The registers were poorly kept for this period so I am not not surprised that his entry is missing

The Children Margaret and John may well belong to my Peter Fraser and his wife Catherine Fraser but I have a technical hitch and have been unable to check the register entry on Scotlands People.

There is also a marriage in 1823 in Inverness which may be the correct one ..but...

The problem is compounded by the fact that there were 2 Peter Frasers married Catherine Frasers at this time and having children in Cromarty parish who may well have been married in Inverness.

Children of Peter and Catherine that I know of:
Catherine b 1827 Braelangwell [emigrated to Australia]
William b 1829 Braelangwell
James Andrews b 1831 Braelangwell [named for the distillery owner :) ]
[I]Then the distillery went broke and family moved to The Colony
Alexander b 1833
Peter b 1836
Ann b 1838 and possibly another Ann b abt 1842
Elizabeth b abt 1844 Cromarty [according to 1851 census]

Peter's age
1841 45 1851 64 Death in 1864 81 ...so pretty flexible :)
Catherine died between 1844 and 1851

I would like to know if there was indeed a "farmer" John Fraser in the Petty are a c 1780-90 who could fit Peter's father's profile. Militia list or such??

I'd love to find Peter in 1861 ..he may be with a married daughter or son His daughter Elizabeth would have been 17 and most likely unmarried. ..or even in an institution.

Thank you
The children, that you mentioned in Cromarty are theirs ..I checked the film some years ago.

However there are other children born to a Peter Fraser [baker of Cromarty] and his wife Catherine Fraser at exactly the same time with similar names.

I am thinking that children John and Margaret are most likely "mine" but without seeing the film and getting perhaps a profession for that Peter, I cannot be sure...certainly as I said they do not appear on the census with their parents but of course were old enough to leave or indeed may not have survived. {maybe I am a bit pedantic]

I have more to follow up there...perhaps some deaths or marriages.

All these children were born to a mother with the maiden name of Fraser It surely is very much a coincidence that all 4 children I found in Resolis have the same names and years of birth. They have got to be yours

I cannot find the 1841/51 census with wife margaret. What was his profession at this time? This is getting a bit confusing.

They are..Braelangwell is in Resolis...I obtained the info from the Parish register film.

The next lot of children were born at The Colony in Cromarty.

I am wary however of the 2 born in Inverness ..they are most likely mine but until I've seen the film or images I cannot be sure.

It is a pain having two Peter Frasers marring Catherine Frasers about the same time in the same rough area.. Fraser is a pretty common surname there abouts.
In the 1841 census both are on Cromarty parish.
