Need help finding the birthplace of George Oscar Burdick. He was born between 1822 - 1823, USA. According to some findings he was born in 1823 in New York, but I want to know who his parents were! He was in Canada by 1828 and remained there until his death in 1903.

I can't find him on the 1881 Canada census despite the comment that he was there from 1828. The only one which is vaguely possible is a George BURDOCK, born in Germany abt 1825.

That is the only census we can't find him on. He is on the 1851 census already married to Lydia with one son. By the 1861 census he has 3 sons ( one being my great grandfather). In 1871 they have four sons. In 1880 the eldest son Charles Henry Burdick can be found on the US census in Fremont Iowa with a family of his own. The 1881 census has us dumbfounded.
He did pass away in Canada in 1903 (and is on their 1901 census). Lydia died in 1899.

PS. To Mark. Why did you close my thread through the Canadian forum? Perhaps some people go directly to that one as they have a specific knowledge of Canadian Family history and would not think to go to the American thread.

Tamara, I found George and his family on the 1881 census as BENDICK. It's on the LDS FamilySearch website or if you want to see the actual image you can use the Collections Canada website:

They were living in Bosanquet, Lambton, Ontario.

I shall reply via PM, but I did link the Canada posting to this one so that anyone reading that post will be able to follow the link to this one anyway.

Thank you for explaining why it was moved. Since I have just joined Brit-Gen this week I am still finding my way. I have used the county forums as well to help with other ancestral lines ... mainly in Scotland. Might try to look for some others in Wales and Ireland.
Any help is a bonus.
