View Full Version : Help! with my John Campbell and Janet Dobie

Hello fellow listers,

I am trying to trace a John Campbell, Born 1771 in Campbeltown, Argyllshire, John was a gardener. He married a Janet Dobie born 1776 in Scotland.

They moved from Scotland to Rhuddlan, North Wales.

In the 1841, 1851, I have them both living in Rhuddlan in 1861 just Janet campbell is still alive.

Died: 02 June 1865, Llys Farm, Meliden North Wales
Burial: 1865, Dyserth North Wales
Died: 15 April 1850 in Penyffordd
Burial: 17 April 1850, Dyserth, Nth Wales.
Occupation: 1807, John is employed as a Gardener at Llewerllyd

Born: 1813, Rhuddlan, Nth Wales
Married: Thomas WILLIAMS son of John WILLIAMS and Anne HUGHES
Died: 12 June 1887
5. Anne Frances CAMPBELL
Born: May 1806
6. Elizabeth CAMPBELL
Born: 14 November 1810, Rhuddlan
Baptism: 02 December 1810, Rhuddlan
7. Peter CAMPBELL
Born: 23 April 1815
Married: Elizabeth DAVIES, 27 October 1838, Rhuddlan

I would love to find out more about them, when the lived in Scotland, so any help would be fantastic.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes that is my Janet Campbell (Dobie).

I already have her death details, its her birth and marriage , details I'm having problems. I have visited all the places she lived, and even managed to pay my respects at her final resting place. The early lives of John and Janet are my brick wall |banghead|. Opinion is divided as to where John Campbell was from there being two options, Dunoon or Campbeltown. I believe it's Campbeltown, but Janet prior to her arrival in North Wales is a complete mystery.
