My 3 x great grandfather John SHARPLEY (1793 - 1871) was a farmer at Close Bottom Farm, Saltersford until his death in August 1871. I'm having difficulty finding out where he was born and would be grateful if anyone with access to the census for Saltersford area pre 1871 could supply any details. Also any information regarding his marriage. The Sharpleys seem to have been a well established family in this area. TIA

The 1871 Census RG 10 3671 folio 8 gives the family members birthplace as Saltersford,Rainow.
