At Last I managed to get into Scotlands People and am sure the John Reip married to Jane McQuillan 2/2/1869 is my Johns 1st marriage father JohnReip
Master Taylor mother Bridget Karanessy.(deceased)
I also found the fathers death cert which said his parents were Patrick Reip Master Taylor and Mary Ferguson.(both deseased!)
they were all in Glasgow during this time and a son Louis born & died in 1873 in glasgow but I cannot find them on either the Scottish or English 1881 census.
John didnt remarry till 1889 but he had children with his 2nd wife in 1883 a daughter Lilly whom I have recieved the certificate for this was in Kent.
Do you think with these names they could have come to Scotland from Ireland? if so are there any immigration records back then?
John must have been born somewhere around 1845 there is nothing on Scotland site though any ideas where else I could look please
