Richard Baker -Policeman c 1876

I am looking for any information on Richard Baker who married Mary Ann Preddy in 1876. I have the marriage certificate which states that he was a policeman living at Abergavenny at the time of marriage. I believe that he may have served in the Abergavenny/Ebbw Vale areas abt 1875-6. I have heard that he had been injured when sorting out a pub brawl but this is not confirmed. Anything that may help me to find out more about his police service etc will be greatly appreciated.
