I really must remember NOT to use any of the provided formatting facilities. Even the slightest excursion into formatting gobbles up my text.

So here is the continuation of the previous - typed in again.

So William's wife Elizabeth was born in Derby or Derbyshire about 1841.

Also her first two children are Derby boys - born Codnor. All the other children were born in Nottingham.

Could have simply been a move - but the only marriage record I can find is as follows:
WILLIAM WHITE m ELIZABETH SMITH
Marriage: 28 FEB 1870 Saint Andrews, Derby
Groom's Father: JOHN WHITE
Brides's Father: TIMOTHY SMITH

Could have simply been a move - but the only marriage record I can find is as follows:

Groom's Father: JOHN WHITE
Bride’s Father: TIMOTHY SMITH
Elizabeth's record is found at Derby: 7b/504 ??
and Williams's at Derby 7b/501 ??

Now, if this is the correct marriage, then it is possible that at about the age of 46
William married Elizabeth aged about 28 who already had two sons of about 10 and 2.
And between the ages of 46 and 60, Blacksmith, born Nottingham
Elizabeth, wife, 50, Housewife, born Derby
Annie E, daughter, 25, Lace mender, born Nottingham
Mary, daughter, 18, dressmaker, born Nottingham
Arthur E, son, 16, telegraphist, born Nottingham
Alice M, daughter, 11, scholar, born Nottingham
Maud, daughter, 8, scholar, born Nottingham

The marriage details give Elizabeth's father as Timothy Smith - so it seems that Smith was her maiden name.
Was she married before her marriage to William?

Can anyone with access to 1841, 1851 or 1861 records or baptism or marriage records for Derbyshire help me to find out
a little more about Elizabeth and her family?

Thank you.
