Has anyone had success in obtaining records from deceased ancestors who were in the Manchester Lunatic Asylum now Cheadle Royal?

Why not try?

Look at the Hospital Records Database (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/details.asp?id=1742&hospital=cheadle+royal&town=&searchdatabase.x=0&searchdatabase.y=0) to find out where any surviving records are and then approach the appropriate repository.

Manchester RO told me that the records were still at Cheadle so I guess I'll have to write to them to find out, They have no email contact.
