I've seen a number of people comment that they have found records in IGI, but what exactly is IGI?

Hello Aquiss,
The IGI is part of the LDS, partly parish register extracts and some LDS member information.
You can search it here
http://www.familysearch.org/ENG/search/frameset_search.asp
It doesn't cover all of the UK but is always worth a look for clues to follow up.

It stands for International Genealogical Index and is produced by the Church of the Latter Day Saints (Mormons). It can be a very useful finding aid for genealogists. Please read the sticky threads at the top of this forum. (http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=586)
