1851/1861 Census 'Vowles' look up

Hi

I'd appreciate a look up, preferably on the 1851 census of Charles Vowles, age probably around 32, with a son William who would be about two or three years old, all living in Wells, Somerset.

The only other child William (with a father Charles) is 3 months old in Compton Bishop.

I had a few bits of information, and with your look up I've now been able to trace the family through later census returns and have pieced it all together.

That's interesting to know. From the information I have, it now seems that Charles Vowles was born c.1810 in Compton Bishop. He subsequently married Eliza March from East Pennard in 1841 (I need to order the certificate). Thomas could have been his father then - the certificate should confirm this.

Do you have any reference to Charles' Christening on your PR's?

Veale is my family name but I am still trying to make the link between Axbidge, where all of mine were, to Wedmore and Chewton Mendip etc.

There is also a Richard Vowles around, who has a massive data base of Vowles names but I can't get his site URL to work. It might be worth trying on some of the specific name message boards.

Seems to me that Charles is the son of James and Charlotte - would fit in well with the approximate dates I have so far. I'll post up again when I've received his marriage certificate.
