Do you have anything else, approximate age, who might she be with, who did she leave behind, records of sailings, area/state she might have been living.

There are a few possibles if can just narrow it down a bit.

Do you think she was widowed in England or America and do you have her on any English censuses.

Desperation! Although Edward died 1889,I lost them after 1871 census ?? plus I had a hint spring up.for U S census. Robert.

Desperation sometimes equals results I found one of mine in New Jersey.

Do you have the references for the English census entries, I'll get acquainted with Mary and see if I can help. :)

Here's an 1881 UK census possibility:

Edward Dewson, head 39, Puddler
Mary Dewson, wife, 38
Edward Dewson, son, 12
Anne Dewson, 9
Jane Dewson, 7
Thomas Dewson, 3

All born West Bromwich, Staffordshire

West Bromwich, Staffordshire, 50 Ault St
Class: RG11; Piece: 2843; Folio: 42; Page: 23

Can you tell us about the hint that leads you to the USA around 1900?

Adele

Loose my net connection when the Grandson goes to bed and switches off his computer, then work all day, back on the lap-top in the evening so sorry no contact since last night.Hard to say about the census finds no concrete links (we have to feel convinced don't we ) feel sure to 1871. Robert.
