I have some Masons from Ratby (Mkt Bosworth for the BMDs) in a similar period on an extended branch - one married a sister-in-law of my male line (2nd Gt Grandaunt).

Because of that, I've only done a basic freeBMD and 1881 census search, but if you think there may be a link I'd be interested. I know some only want direct lines - me, I like to see the bigger picture, after all, they were a part of the lives then, so why not now :D

Hi, might be a link, the family moved across from Toft Lincs in stages, I have Tom Mason at Careby in 1861 and at Tugby in 1871, first child born Barrow 1874. 1891 at Barrow but by 1894 kids born at Belgrave. I don't follow just the direct line but track the siblings although only then record children and partners family, one up & one down, if that makes sense.
Names would be Tom 1846, Elizabeth 1829, George 1834, William 1835, George2 abt 1844, Mary 1831 all born Toft Lincs.
Any of these names fit?
Cheers Pete

Like you I go one up, one down - John of 1833 is my 'one up' with a census POB as Ratby (haven't tracked the cert though) and the children all born in Ratby in the 1860s&70s, so it doesn't look like they fit.

Sorry if I raised any hopes - if I come across anyone else in the right area I'll post.

Seems to be a lot of them in that area, there is another family in Barrow that I think are linked but struggling to find any hard evidence although they came from Toft too. Are you aware of this site
http://www.leicestershirevillages.com/barrowuponsoar/censusrecords.html

apart from census, bmd too. Pete
