Hi, Mescalito, thought this might be of interest. I can send you a gedcom if you want it.
my husband's gt gt grandfather, William Beatley Nichols, was chr. 4 Sep 1813 in St Peter Mancroft church. He married elizabeth Spurgeon, 14 Sep 1836 in South Repps (her home parish). We know of 2 children, Beatley (5 Aug 1839 - my husband's gt grandfather), who married Harriot Ann Randall, 1 Feb 1860 in Lakenham; and Frederick born about 1844(1851 census), probably married margaret of wighton (1881 census).
Going backwards, Wm Beatley's father was William Nichols born about 1790 I think. He married Mary Ann Norman 20 Oct 1812 in St Peter Mancroft. We have one other child - harriet, 19 oct 1815.
Does anything connect?

If you haven't already, you might want to check the index to Rosay Cemetery Inscriptions published in 1986 as Volume 18 of the NNGS 'Norfolk Genealogy' Series. There are a load of NICHOL(L)S and NICKALLS memorials listed; plus some burials in Thorpe Hamlet 1821-1837.

Hi Wendyjay,
I am not sure whether we have a connection but several coincidences. I have a William NICHOLS b c1791 who married Lucy BUCK 1 Nov 1818. They had eight children including a Harriet b c1829! They lived close to Norwich for a number of generations.
William married Lucy when he was 27 so I wonder if it was his second marriage as both your children were born before 1818. Have you been able to find out whem Mary Ann NORMAN died?
I am descended from James NICHOLS the third child of William and Lucy.

I also have Nichols in my family tree that lived in Norwich.

Elizabeth Nichols B. 1861
Edward Mack Nichols B. 1841 St. Julian
Soloman Jeddidiah Nichols B. 1816 St. Augustine
Thomas Nichols B. 1776 St. Augustine

If any of this helps I can send you more information.

I don't have a death but did find an entry on the 1851 census which seemed like it could be Mary Ann, however looking at it again, I'm not so sure as the age of the Harriet is several years out. I'll look further when I have a minute.
