Still trying after 6yrs to breakdown this important brickwall.
John McLAUCHLAN was born 1801, Dunkeld (1851 census) Perthshire
Original entry for John's marriage:
John MacLACHLAN (note spelling), farm servant in this parish [Coupar Angus] and Marjory MILNE in the parish of Cargill. Two Sundays. [referring to banns]
They married 26 Dec 1824. No mention of either partners parents.
Marjory & John's children: [all baptsied in Perth Burgh-mother referred to as May MILNE & twice May MILL].
Ann - 10 Dec 1825
John - 11 Aug 1828
May (Marjory) - 11 Sep 1831
William - 2 June 1836
James - 1838
1831 the family lived in Hillyland
1836 They were on Friarton or Moncrieffe Island in the Rivert Tay
1851 In Evelick Parish of Kilspndie Perthshire
John McLachlane (spelling) Head widower - 48yrs - Farm Labourer
May McL - dau - 18yrs
James - son - 12yrs - scholar (note he states James was born in St. Martins.
Believe in 1841 census they were living back in Cargill as Marjory was very ill & died before 1851 census. The spelling for their surname then, was MacLamblan....
When I was over in Perth last year a very kind friend & I trudged through little damp Cargill cemetery but could find no mention of Marjory or MILNE family..mind you some MI's one couldn't even read or were under bushes. Why do they seem to land face down..grrrr!!!
Any information whatsoever would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
