View Full Version : Chancery - a fairly basic question

How expensive was it to bring a suit as a petitioner in Chancery? And what sort of expense was likely to be incurred by defendants? I've been looking at a suit that came before the Vice Chancellor's court in 1861 concerning a dispute over those eligible to benefit from a trust. Does the very fact that Chancery was involved necessarily indicate that a considerable sum was involved (otherwise the expense of going to law would not be worth the outcome)?
I would be most grateful for opinions from those with knowledge of the workings of Chancery
