I have an old address for someone - they served in the M.P.B.W ('Ministry of Public Buildings & Works' ?), RAF Eastleigh, East Africa and I have the BFPO (British Forces Post Office ?) number. I knew he was in the RAF and travelled all over the place but I have no other information about his RAF service. I know when and where he was born and that he was in his 80s when he died. He married an Italian lady but I don't know yet when or where.

Question is...where do I start looking?

Thank you

Hi Browneyes,

Do I take it that your chap served in the second world war? If so, first have a read of this TNA Rresearch Guide (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=61). ;)

I'm really not sure Jan. Let me think...He was born in 1914 and I do have a photo of him in a uniform taken at his parents home when he was in his 20s so I guess perhaps he did as that would have been around 1939 ish.

Do you or anyone else have any idea about the sort of jobs he might have done in the M.P.B.W. ?

Will look at the link. Thanks
