Janey

Could these be the ones?

Looks like James was still at sea in the 1901 census and Sarah was in the Orkneys with her father and sister:

To track down Sarah I used birth year and place of birth from 1891 census data.

Hello Janey

Have you tried looking for these on scotlandspeople ?
The marriage is there in 1890 - a search for James Hume marriage to Sarah only produced two hits and there they were.

You will have to buy credits to view it though.

WOW you have found them,,!!!!!

I cannot say enough thanks for your terrific help,, I would never
have thought to look for "Sarah" up in the "Orkney"s,,,,,,
Yeah it does look like 'James' was at 'sea' and Sarah went 'home'
with the kids,,,!!!!! James had sisters named 'Gracie & Elizabeth'
his granmother was 'Elizabeth/Betsy' so it's them alright,,,,

My thanks Casey' I will get the marr/cert from 'S/P'

Appreciate all your efforts, thank you very much

Kind regards;

HI Pandad;

My grateful appreciation for finding my 'cousins-wife' all the way
up in the 'Orkney's,,,, I wonder now if 'Sarah' had gone back there
to live with 'James' being a 'seaman',,,??? I am looking at the 'kids'
and their 'schooling' in the different places,,,,??

James' family came to Glasgow from 'Leith' and his father 'Thomas'
was also a 'ship-steward' they lived in the 'Tradeston-area' his sister
'Mary Blair Hume' (mar) my 3x cousin "John Kirkwood Thomson" on 7/Sept
1893, 92 Gloucester St,Tradeston,I have lost them after that but just
found on 'Ancestry' 1901 Census 'St George Dist/Civil Par/St Michael' Edinb/
Midd. address 175 Gorgie Rd, "John Thomson & wife Mary", daughter
Elizabeth B.P. Thomson age 1yr,,,, I think this "May" be them based on
the child's name for 'Mary's grandmother,(Elizabeth/Betsy),,,
Could you possibly check this and see if they give anymore info, John was
a 'Drapery-Warehouseman'/Commission-Agent',,,
I did wonder if they married in 1893 and had no children till 1900 a bit
strange,,????

Would appreciate your help very much thank you,,,

Kind regards;
