John Arnold was a musician, psalmodist and itinerant singing master whose books of psalmody in the 1750s-60s had Great Warley appended to his name in the preface. He had connections to the old parish church there, which had a singing gallery at the west end, and he was probably in charge of the village choir, or singing society, of the time. He may also have had connections with Leicestershire, because in the late 1760s he published a Leicestershire Harmony, and was thought to have lived there for some while.
So far the IGI has revealed little if anything of him, and apart from what can be gleaned froim his printed books (which is little more than i have written) the trail has so far stopped here.
Any thoughts, anyone?
Edwin
