Convent in Cavan

Hello all,
I'm trying to trace any information on the following. My Mother Kathleen Eaton " Dimples" attended a convent in Cavan. I believe it was located on River Street or very close by, but not certain. I do know she was educated by nuns and left around 1953 to work on a farm making black pudding.

Out of interest, I would like to know if there is anyone who also attended this convent, what was it like and the location if it is still there. Was it an old building and was there any history to it.

There was an orphanage in Main Street nearby. (Warning) Really sad story :( about a fire there on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cavan_Orphanage_Fire

Hi Brown eyes,
Thank you for responding. Very strange that you should mention this particular convent. After I posted my thread enquiring for information, I was doing some research on the internet and discovered the very sad story of this convent.

I will be phoning my Mum later and ask if she can remember anything, though she would have only been three years old at the time.
