hi before my beloved mum passed away she always said that her uncle
was murdered in london she said after my grandparents died the police
went to the house to inform my granddad on hearing they were both deceased ( granddad and grandma )
the police informed my great grandma of the news my mum said she was there at the time it would have been between 1938 and 1944 anyone any idea where i can look for this info his name was john o'dowd or dowd
kind regards

I take it that you have been searching the actual images of the GRO index quarter by quarter under both Dowd and O'Dowd.

There is no database that I know of that covers deaths in that period and that allows you to simply enter a name and get the answer.

hi peter yes i have searched the actual images i will go through them again
just in case i missed it do you think he could have been kill in the blitz may be
the police said he was killed and she took it as murder she was only 15 or so
if he was killed in a air raid would there still be a record of it . regards

If he was killed as a result of the war, he should be in the CWGC list (including civilians).

If he was in the forces, you should find his death in one of the war death registers
